Add Craze

Psychology

Add Craze is a brain game meant to exercise the mind in a challenge of math, memory, multitasking, and recovery time. It is inspired by a psychology study I participated in that measured brainwaves in stressful situations. I implemented it as a fun game that would hopefully promote brain stimulation and memory practice. To implement this, I used 2 random number generators and continuously tracked the current sum of the random numbers. Whenever a new number was given, I would keep only the second number then calculate the sum with the new number. To detect correct answers, I could’ve converted players’ answers from string to integers and compared the numbers, however, I just made a series of cases using if statements since it was a simple solution for this game. I also wanted to evoke a lot of the same emotions from the study. Therefore, I made it more stressful by having a short timer per question so the number would change if you took too long. If the number changed or you guessed incorrect you would lose score so the stakes were higher. No music was used during playtime and there were minimal sound effects to help players focus.
